Job Description

The Alliance for Language Technologies (ALT-EDIC) seeks talents from various EU Member States to form its core team. It will offer interactions with a wide range of stakeholders in a international environment, and the opportunity to play a key role in the developement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Europe.

About the ALT-EDIC

The ALT-EDIC implements a Multi-Country Project (MCP) aiming at developing a common European infrastructure in Language Technologies (LTs). It seeks to improve European competitiveness in LT and uphold Europe’s linguistic diversity and cultural richness.

The ALT-EDIC was officially set up on February 7th, 2024, by Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2024/458. It gathers 17 Members States and 8 observing Member States or Regions. It is coordinated and hosted by France, and its statutory seat is in Villers-Cotterêts.

The ALT-EDIC will serve its members and the LT community by increasing the availability of European language data, enhancing their interoperability, strengthening the offer of LT evaluation, fostering networking, and contributing to common policies for LT. The fast progress of LTs such as Large Language Models (LLMs) puts the ALT-EDIC at the heart of the development of AI technologies.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Select, develop, and maintain data annotation tools, including for computer-aided semi-automatic annotation
  • Set up and manage an IT infrastructure for linguistic data creation and storage
  • Develop and maintain LT evaluation software
  • Contribute to IT management for office work

Essential requirements

  • Expertise in software development
  • Knowledge of User Interface design
  • Knowledge of various platforms (Linux, Windows and MacOS)
  • Fluent in at least two EU languages

  • IT management and security
  • Adaptability and teamwork skills

Conditions of employment

  • The ALT-EDIC Employment and Recrutement Policy is available in English and in French
  • Competitive salary based on the candidate’s expertise and experience
  • Daily work in Villers-Cotterêts and/or in Paris, with meetings taking place at both locations
  • Teleworking arrangements can be considered
  • Start date: As soon as possible
